Flying Fish crew accommodation, Cowes

Flying Fish offers accommodation in Cowes for all customers who are aged 18 or over, in one of our crew houses.

Our crew houses are a mix of Victorian properties in the heart of Cowes, a two-minute walk from Cowes High Street and our training centre, on the High Street.

Our accommodation is self-catering with large kitchens and a living area to relax in after a day of training. The houses are fully furnished with bedding provided. Each crew house is just a couple of minutes’ walk from our training centre on Cowes High Street.

Our crew houses are a great way to get to know your fellow students, often cooking together and going out together, you’ll end up making friends you’ll take with you as you travel the world on a Superyacht.

Layout and inclusions

All Flying Fish crew houses have fitted kitchens, including washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers. There is a TV and of course free Wifi available in every house. We have twin, single and double rooms available in each house each with storage facilities for your belongings. We will always do our best to allocate a suitable room for you. Each house has multiple bathrooms and a furnished garden, great for the summer months.

Parking is limited at both of our crew houses so we advise against bringing a car as it is not necessary during your stay. With town being so close and transport to and from training locations provided, almost all of our customers choose to travel to Southampton by train, then hop on the Red Jet to West Cowes. There is parking available in Southampton at the Triangle car park, close to Red Funnel’s Red Jet.

We don’t provide towels so please bring your own. Please note the pictures below feature one property however we have 3 of a similar standard that you may stay in.

Things to do in Cowes

STCW, Superyacht Deckhand and Stewardess training courses run 7-days a week. During the evenings you may like to eat at one of  the many restaurants in Cowes or relax in the accommodation.

If you are looking to head out then we recommend the famous Coast bar or try Harbour kitchen,  all located on Cowes High Street. There are also many pubs along the High Street including The Anchor and The Globe, both student favourites. The Globe has a rooftop terrace for you to watch the boats out on the Solent as you unwind with a cocktail.

If you like to keep fit then there is a local Gym, Inshape a 15-minute walk from the accommodation which many of our customers use to unwind. There are also some beautiful coastal walks around Cowes with ice cream stops along the way.

During the summer months you could hire a stand up paddle board and take to the water or mountain bike to explore Cowes and the surrounding areas.
