What makes up STCW Basic Safety Training

There are four elements that make up STCW

    1. Personal Survival Techniques (PST) – This module covers the basic principles of survival, including the use of life-saving appliances and procedures for abandoning ship.
    2. Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF) – This module covers the basic principles of fire prevention and firefighting, including the use of different types of fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment.
    3. Elementary First Aid (EFA) – This module covers the basic principles of first aid, including how to respond to different types of injuries and illnesses.
    4. Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR) – This module covers the basic principles of personal safety, including the importance of teamwork, communication, and personal responsibility.

In 2017 the rules were updated, in addition to the 4 elements above, seafarers starting a career at sea are required to complete:

All 5 modules are incuded as part of our STCW Basic Safety Training Course.

Who needs to complete STCW Basic Safety Training

If you intend to work at sea on any commercial vessel, whether that be a ferry, cruise ship, superyacht, etc.. then you will need to complete Basic Safety Training Course before you step onboard. The qualifications you recieve are international recognised meaning you can work onboard anywhere in the world.
