Enhanced learning credits

Flying Fish delivers ELCAS-approved training courses, which are eligible for funding under the Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) scheme.

ELC is a British Government initiative to pay for in-service and resettlement training for Armed Forces personnel, in preparation for the transition to civilian life after a service career.

ELC applies to courses that are at or above Level 3 on the UK’s National Qualification Framework (NQF).

 

Yachtmaster Ocean courses with ELC funding:

• Yachtmaster Ocean Theory and Passage – 4 weeks in Sydney
• RYA Intermediate Windsurfing Instructors Course  – 2 weeks in Greece
• Advanced Windsurfing Course  – 1 week in Greece

 

Accumulating eligible service

ELC grants are available to UK Armed Forces personnel in two tiers:

You must accumulate four years of eligible service to claim the Lower Tier (80% of the fees, up to a maximum of £1,000 per claim instalment) and eight years eligible service to claim the Higher Tier (80% of the fees, up to a maximum of £2,000 per claim instalment).

 

A maximum of three claims

Each eligible claimant may make a total of three claims. These can include claims in both the lower and higher tier but must not exceed three claims in total.

Only one claim may be made for learning activities commencing in any one financial year.
